Special Investigations Unit (SIU) conducts both overt and covert investigations directed at illicit drug trafficking, and detecting, apprehending, and seeking criminal prosecution of all those persons involved in controlled substance crimes. SIU Detectives are highly trained by the DEA in the dismantling of methamphetamine laboratories.

SIU also conducts any internal investigations and background investigations that are necessary for the police department as well as conducting public presentations on drug awareness. Detectives for SIU also serve as members for the Special Response Team.
